Boys & Girls Club of the Los Angeles Harbor (BGCLAH)

Welding and Construction

After proving their success in the Saturday Year-Round Skilled Trades Program pilot, BGCLAH partnered again with Dynamic Education to offer 24 high school students and 18 transitioned-aged youth alumni, the opportunity to earn high-value industry-based credentials in welding and construction during the summer.

In June 2024, the first cohort of Construction students completed the Saturday Year-Round pilot and took their NCCER credentialing exam.  100% of the cohort passed their exam!

As part of the BGCLAH Career Bound program, students are assigned case managers who provide one-on-one support to promote high school graduation, subsequent job placement and employment success.

“Our school system should be more engaging for students who don’t know what they want to do with their career or with themselves. College or a trade is not an either or for me. I’m going to do both,”

Damien Winfrey, student 2024
