“Ultimately, what drives me is knowing that the skills I share with my students have lasting value. They not only gain technical proficiency but also develop problem-solving abilities and confidence, preparing them for successful futures in the trades or beyond.”

Joshua Marmolejo teaches the automotive academy at Clint High School in Clint, TX. Throughout his career, he has been committed to educating students, equipping them with the skills they need to succeed in the workforce or pursue higher education. Before entering the classroom, he worked in the automotive industry for eight years, gaining valuable hands-on experience. He is also a mechanical engineer.  As the first P-TECH (Pathways in Technology Early College High School) instructor in his educational region, he has helped build a program where students can earn both a high school diploma and an associate’s degree or industry-recognized certifications.

By integrating the latest industry trends, fostering hands-on experiences, and continuously improving through collaboration, Marmolejo ensures that his students are prepared for successful careers in mechanical engineering and skilled trades. In the classroom, he emphasizes hands-on learning by incorporating real-world projects and using technologies like the latest engine calibration software, CNC plasma cutting software, and a chassis dynamometer. To expose students to both academic and career pathways, Marmolejo connects students with internships and college credit opportunities through the P-TECH program. As a member of the El Paso Community College Advisory Committee, Marmolejo collaborates with industry professionals and educators, such as Texas Workforce Solutions, to ensure his curriculum aligns with industry needs and to stay informed about current and emerging job opportunities. By aligning his curriculum with the most in-demand careers, Marmolejo ensures that students are prepared for the high-growth job sectors that are shaping the future of work.
