Jasmine Velasquez earned an Associate Degree in Kinesiology from El Camino Community College, a Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training from Azusa Pacific University, and a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Southern California. Jasmine is currently completing her PhD in Indigenous Health at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine & Health Sciences. She served as a secondary school teacher in Los Angeles, where she created a nationally recognized CTE Sports Medicine Pathway and mentorship program that expanded opportunities for young people. She has been a consultant with the organization since 2021 and helped launch the first Los Angeles County Skilled Trades Summer program. Jasmine Velasquez is from the Muscogee Nation of the Tiger Clan, and Mexican (Ensenada/León Guanajuato) As an advocate for Indigenous children’s right to equitable healthcare she authored a post-secondary curriculum on applying cultural understanding when working with Indigenous youth. Her leadership and advocacy have been recognized widely. She received the FWATA Athletic Trainers of Excellence Award for her service to youth athletes and was honored by the California Interscholastic Federation as a Champion of Character for her compassionate, and culturally attuned care.
