As executive director, Danny leads the dynamic Harbor Freight Tools for Schools’ team that aims to advance excellent skilled trades education in U.S. public high schools. This exciting work includes directing implementation of the programs and grant-making of this growing philanthropic enterprise, in concert with The Smidt Foundation.
Danny brings over three decades of leadership dedicated to expanding opportunities for K-12 public school students. He held a series of leadership positions over 13 years with the California Charter Schools Association, including chief financial officer and senior vice president of development. He has passion and experience linking students’ education to meaningful career opportunities, spending four years as director of career academies with the Los Angeles Educational Partnership.
Danny has served on the boards of several nonprofit organizations and received his BA from UC Santa Barbara and master’s in education from UCLA. He loves to visit high schools, coordinate travel adventures with friends and family, and take in any ball game from the local Little League field to Petco Park to see his favorite team, the San Diego Padres.
