Unique Program Components

  • This program is a partnership between LBCC, the Port of Long Beach (POLB) and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) – Local 11.
  • Eligible students who apply to the IBEW apprenticeship are given “advanced standing” on their application due to their participation in the program.
  • Students participate in enrichment and career readiness including field trips to local union training centers.
  • In 2026, LBCC will expand its career readiness offerings and support students in creating LinkedIn profiles and tailored resumes.

“Summer may be the only opportunity that some students may have to take the class. Basically it’s logistics due to possible conflicts during the school year. Any method to introduce students into automotive is desirable; auto classes during the school year, dual enrollment classes with Cerritos College, and, of course, the Harbor Freight Tools for Schools summer program.” Read more.
